Fill hose for washing machines

Water is added to the washing machine through a special filling hose. It is with its help that the connection with the water supply takes place. The problem is that it can cause water spills. There may be various reasons for this:

• The compression sleeve is badly crimped,
• The top layers of the hose have burst;
• The hose is not long enough.

And, although most often it comes with the washing machine, such situations are not uncommon. Let's pay attention to these aspects to avoid unpleasant situations.

Types of filling hoses:

• With a fixed length. Represent a tube of 1 to 5 meters in length;
• In a coil. Length up to 10 meters;
• Telescopic. Thanks to the corrugated tube it is possible to increase the length by extending it;
• With a system of Aqua-stop. The system, which allows to avoid leaks.

At the moment of water supply, the hose is under high pressure and in order to withstand it the hose has a double wall. It is capable of withstanding pressure up to 70 bar. But, even if the hose bursts, the water enters the knob, which is filled with powder. It is this, when wet, that expands and blocks further water flow. Often a solenoid valve is added to such a system. In this case, the flow of water is blocked by the valve.

There are models in which an automatic pump is built in. It starts pumping water if the valve is not triggered. But, after such an emergency situation, the hose becomes unsuitable for further use. Its reuse is impossible.

There is one important nuance: it is not recommended to make the distance to the drain more than 15 meters. Most often, fill hoses of length from 3 to 5 meters are used.

Proper installation does not have any features, the main thing is to avoid kinks and not allow the hose to go straight up after the faucet.

There is a thread on the hose, which corresponds to the standard size - three-quarters of an inch. This is used to connect it to the shut-off valve. In new houses this place is already provided. If the house is old and the project is not planned for a place for the washing machine, the hose is connected to the pipe to the faucet in the bathroom.

The most frequent problem, due to which a leak occurs, is an unstable connection to the pipe or washing machine, it is not uncommon for the rubber gasket to simply age and wear out. The only true solution is to replace this gasket.

Another possible cause could be the wrong position of the hose: it can be twisted or kinked. Restore the hose to its natural position.

The hose itself may also be worn out as a result of leakage. This can be caused by mechanical impact or fraying of the tube at the connection. The replacement procedure itself is not that complicated:

• Shut off the water.
• Disconnect the damaged hose from the water line and from the machine and install a new hose in its place.

It seems very simple, but often this work leads to the need to lengthen the fill hose. This is no longer such a simple procedure if you can not find a hose of the same manufacturer as the washing machine. Selecting the right diameter of gaskets and connectors can be a very troublesome affair.
